Writing a Book
I'm stuck.

Things I want to do before I die not in any particular order:
1) Visit Ground Zero in NY
2) Learn to Ride a Motorcycle for Myself
3) Lose Weight Again
4) Write A Book
5) Learn to Play the Guitar
6) Travel Abroad
7) Teach Something
8) Take A Cruise
9) Sing A Duet With My Husband

Singing a duet with my husband
La la la la la la la.....
Aren't we cute?

#2) Learning to ride a motorcycle = Well, June 23rd, 2003 I had my first lesson. Okay, my first and last lesson. Let's just say I will continue to enjoy being a passenger and let Neal do all the work up front. It's not for me, not right now anyway. Trying to learn on an 1100 was not smart.
#3) Losing weight seems to be an ongoing battle. I have committed the whole year of 2005 to getting real about weight loss.
[It's 2006 now - it's on ongoing battle]
[It's 2007 now. At least I am in control of my eating again. It's only been a couple weeks so I will keep you updated.]
[It's 1/4/2009 today and I started following the same food plan I did in 1991 when I lost 175 lbs on 8/20/2008. I have lost 39 lbs. so far and am committed to this way of eating for the rest of my life. I exercise three times a week using large equipment and three more times a week using small handheld equipment. I am incorporating more and more healthy varieties of food into my daily food plan. I have used more self-discipline in the last 4 1/2 months than ever before. What spawned this change? The Lord impressed this verse upon my heart one day - Hebrews 12:1 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us," My eating was OUT OF CONTROL and it was controlling my life. I'm committed to health and self-control now in Christ's strength!]
#5) Playing Guitar = I bought a guitar (2001) and tried for the second time in my life to learn how to play it. It's just not gonna happen in this lifetime. I truly admire anyone who can play the guitar. I watch Neal play and my jaw drops open.
#7) Teach Something = In Mar/Apr 2005 I taught a floral design class. It's not exactly what I meant, but I learned a lot about the world of teaching.
#8) We went on a cruise with two other couples Nov 2nd-9th, 2003. It was out of this world. It's a fantasy vacation like no other.
#4 Write A Book = Here it is the beginning of 2009 and I still have not finished writing a book. I've started but have no clear and precise vision. Perhaps this year!

PET PEEVES
1) When you answer the phone and the cord is tangled just enough that it pulls the phone on the floor (at work). EEEEEEEEEEEEK!!! Now I use all cordless so this no longer happens.
2) People who call on the phone and as soon as they get an answering machine they hang up. They don't wait and talk or even expect someone to pick up. Don't people realize in this day and age half the people screen their calls?
3) When a phone call is answered with one automated answer after another or it's voice sensitive and you can barely breath without it changing.
4) When my mom answers a different question than the one I asked her.
5) People who have no self-control when they post on message boards.
6) Being interrupted.
7) People who don't take their cell phone with them even if they don't turn it on.
8) People who contradict you through the whole conversation.
9) Phone numbers that are written using words.
10) When people leave the corn servers on the cob when they are finished and expect me to remove them. Ick!
11) Not having enough room when doing something: i.e. having to move a lot of stuff to do something else.
12) When people keep fixing the money obsessively in the drawer at work so all the bills face the same way.
13) When people at work put the Canadian coins in a separate place instead of mixing it in with the rest, thus creating a small stash of hard to get rid of money. (we live near the border so getting and giving Canadian change is typical here)
14) People who make a complete mess on the table at a restaurant during dinner - and they're sitting by me.
15) When they only fill your coffee cup 2/3 full.
I think fifteen is enough pet peeves.

MONK-LIKE TRAITS:
I have to have everything in my space at a restautant placed evenly and neat and my space is big. If the rolls or such are near my space I move them to the other side of the table. Everybody I eat out with knows I am going to mark out my territory within a few minutes of sitting down.

If I am not 15 - 60 minutes early wherever I go I consider myself late and don't want to even go. (I didn't turn into this until I met my husband as he is like this - now I am like this)

I'm following a food plan to lost weight and eat healthy. I weigh and measure my food and count calories to the extreme.

I keep track of everything no one including me even cares about in a small calander.

I keep all receipts, papers, etc. and file them in files that are color coded with matching files and tabs.

I have a small notebook titled "WHERE". It has written in it all the contents of drawers, cupboards, shelves, etc. in our room and some other areas.

I have calender pages I made on the computer that I keep track of my calories and weight loss on every day and also an accountability chart I made for myself that I check off every night as so various things I want to do regularly like exercise, drink green tea, floss, etc.

I keep emails until they add up to about 300-500 and while doing this I also file some in folders and delete others. It only takes me about an hour to clean it out periodically. I just CAN'T get rid of them until I see for myself I didn't need to keep it.

I have way too many email addresses.

I've only worn two non-black pieces of clothing in the last couple years.

I pull my hair out. When I notice I am doing it I put my hair back in a pony-tail, put on a hat or put my hair up in a big clip so I can't pull it out.

I don't really know if these are Monk-like traits, but I know I have OCD tendencies and have many overt perfectionistic compulsions.

A Parent's Support
I love red! I really love red & black together!!! I wear black most of the time and it's probably my favorite color. Hot pink is cool. When I was a teen-ager my mom let me paint my room a beautiful satiny smooth navy blue color. That was cool, too. I used to paint on some of the walls, like abstract mountains, scenery, geometrical shapes, and stuff like that. It was a lotta fun! My mom always supported my individuality even though she didn't understand me.

Spinning Piano

Our Piano
I love music! I love the song right now "Change Your Mind" by Sister Hazel.
We had an old upright piano that was my grandmother's at our flower shop and one day my mother went over and started playing it. I was shocked. I grew up with this piano in our basement. I taught myself to read music on it. My sister took piano lessons and practiced on this piano. I never knew until that day at the flower shop that my mother could play the piano. Who knew?

This is the piano & since then my friend bought it
Maggie's new toy!
Now she takes lessons on it.
